I’d like to personally welcome you to KevinMossOnline.com. This site is my playground of sorts, highlighting my professional and photographic endeavors, while filling you in on what is coming next. My professional and photographic career is ever expanding, and I wanted to invite you along for the ride…
Photographer, Author, Educator, Information Technology
I am a photographer as well as author of digital photography books. Photography has been a passion of mine for over 30 years, and I’ve enjoyed many successes in my “second career”. I’ve photographed many portraits, even weddings here and there. I’ve photographed the ruins of Detroit, the beauty of nature, the slot canyons of Arizona, Buddhist Temples of Japan and the mysticism of Stonehenge.
I currently teach digital photography at BetterPhoto.com, as well as developing a slew of new books on digital photography, Photoshop, Elements, Lightroom, and the list goes on… “I write, therefore I am!”
My most recent written works include:
- Photoshop Elements (CreateSpace, Amazon.com)
- Photoshop CS2 and Digital Photography for Dummies (Wiley Publishing)
- Camera Raw with Photoshop for Dummies (Wiley Publishing)
- 50 Fast Digital Camera Techniques Revision 2 (Wiley Publishing)
- Nature Photography and Photoshop (Course Technology)
My photographic travels began over 30 years ago while in high school. Though specializing in nature and landscapes, my photographic expertise has grown to include fine-art portrait, abstract photography, and urban scenes.
I am currently working on two projects:
- DigitalPhotographyDaily.com: A daily eZine for Digital Photographers. This site launched March 1, 2010 and currently growing its readership daily.
- TheCenterForDigitalPhotography.com, a digital photography training site that is currently in development. ETA, November 1, 2010.
Information Technology and Management
My IT career has been greatly rewarding. Though I am now full time as a photographer, author and instructor, over the years I’ve had the pleasure of launching enterprise systems, departmental systems, data centers, and in the past 12 years, a multitude of Web-based systems at the corporate level. I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the best technical teams, business partners, CEO’s and CIO’s in the industry. I remain close friends with these visionaries to this day.
From being an IT Director (from the ripe age of 29), an early Web technology adopter, to managing multi-million dollar web application implementations for corporate America, I’m still having a great time. As an IT consultant, I’ve created, managed, and implemented scores of web-based implementations for companies such as General Motors, OnStar, GMAC, Ford Motor Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield to name a few. PMO’s and project management have become second nature to me, but I am always diving into new technologies to apply to business applications.
Recently, I’ve been working extensively with Web 2.0 technologies. Content Management Systems(CMS) are indeed a godsend for clients and upstarts with content-rich applications, and a need for non-technical staff to manage their content and site pages. New web platforms such as Joomla! and WordPress have revolutionized the Web. Most important to the new developments in technology, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is becoming key to the ever growing online world. Lastly, designing all these Web applications with proven technologies also includes understanding usability and applying SEO-friendly CSS. In my attempt to mastering all of these, you can expect books and web-based classes from me on all of these in the near future, just a few of the many projects I’m currently involved in.
I value your visits, and am always looking forward to hearing from you. Good feeback or bad, I make every effort to respond as fast as I can with your personal comments!
